Welcome to Reinford Farms
We have a story to tell.
Reinford Farms is located in the rolling hills of central PA. Dairy farming has been our livelihood for several generations.
In 2008, we stumbled upon the possibility of recycling food waste on our dairy farm. We were looking to be more sustainable in our business practices and use the resources available to us... like using all our cow manure to make energy. So when the question, “Can you recycle food waste?” was asked, we said, “Yes, we will figure it out.” We are not afraid to try something new and this new endeavor fit with our mission statement. With an investment in an anaerobic digester, we were on our way to providing a sustainable solution to the massive food waste problem in this country.
Our innovative spirit at Reinford Farms continues today. We are not only disposing of food waste, but we have an environmentally friendly solution that turns it into renewable energy. We welcome you to be a part of our story.
How We Make Power
Material is received packaged in cardboard boxes, cans, bags, plastic, etc.
Cardbord is recycled before the depackaging process.
Material go into a depackager and the machine grinds food waste while removing packaging materials.
Anything that is recyclable is recycled when it comes out of the machine.
Unrecycled material goes to an incinerator or landfill.
Food waste and manure are combined in a mixing area before being pumped into the digester.
Manure from dairy cows is pumped out of the barn.
In the digester, bacteria breaks down the mix of manure and food waste. Methane gas rises to the top.
Field growing crops. The liquid manure and food waste is used as fertilizer.
An engine burns methane gas, heating water to create heat and electricity.
Electricity is sent back to the grid. The farm generates enough electricity to power 100 houses and the farm.
The process provides heat and hot water for buildings on the farm.

Food Waste Recycling Services
Sustainable
Rather than sending your food waste to a landfill, we transform it into renewable electricity, heat and fertilizer. We also recycle all the packaging we can, like cardboard and cans, which may help your organization become zero waste. The environment appreciates it.
Secure
Our food waste building is secure so that your product does not become food for the birds, wildlife, or other people. We know that you want your product out of sight and destroyed as quickly as possible. When food waste is brought to our facility it is put inside, secured, and destroyed swiftly.
Cost Effective
Getting rid of waste isn’t cheap. Why not save some money and recycle it? Most of the time we are more cost effective than a landfill. Simply ask us for a quote to find out.
Depackaging
We can handle a wide variety of food waste. Liquid, semi-liquid, and solid food waste works in our recycling process. We can also depackage food waste that is still in its original packaging. That is no problem! Cardboard, plastic, cans, etc. are no match for our depackaging machine.
Transportation
We can assist you with transporting your food waste. We have our own trucks and trailers. It makes the process more streamlined, more secure, and faster. No more trying to find a truck to haul it. We’ll do it!
Simple Onboarding
Destroying waste shouldn’t be complicated. Do you have 1 warehouse, 1 truck load, or 1 pallet of food waste you need destroyed? Just let us know what you need, and we will tell you if we can process it. We keep it simple.
